This night was the "Eurovision song contest". A contest witch you probably heard about before....Were ervery country had to sing a song in their own language. The countries participating were Austria, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Turkey and at last but not least Norway:-)

It was a really fun contest, not just to see all the other countries but even to participate. Even though we din`t win ;) hehe.... There`s not much more to say, but I will show you some pictures.....

International week, thusday

Thursday we were supposed to have physical education. But poor teacher he was ill. So instead we had a belgian teacher talking about children books. She showed us some books she thought were good, learning children about totally different cultures in a positiv way. Learning them that every cultures are valuable. Then she read a book for us.

Then we went to Ribe, Denmark`s oldest town. Here we visited the viking museum. Were we all fell in love with the children`s department(at least so it seamed).
Then we took a walk in the nice town, really worth a visit. Ending(some of us) at a local cafè \pub drinking hot chocolate.

International week, wednesday

Today we met in the big hall of the university, the assembly hall. There we had a small introduction and a lady talking about internationalisation. Pretty ironic she could`nt speak english. The rest of the day we had work shops. We were divided in to smaller groups. I was in the group of didactic. There we talked about what different people from different countries with different backgrounds both have in common and not have in common. And we talked about different cultures and thins that can be normal in one culture can be shocking for other people. To understand why people do why they do we have to have knowledge about each others culture, such as history, geografic condition, tradition etc. At the end of the class we made a poster were we wrote different values we all thought were good values to have working in f.eks a kindergarten with children from different cultures. We wrote: Respect, tolerance and reflection.
To end the sectoin:
If you work with pedagogic:
- your intention is to make the children independent!
- you have to legalize everything you do!

The second work shop this day we prepared exhibitions about our own university. So us three Norwegian girls prepared a really nice exhibition about University of Stavanger. Incase someone reads this: travel to Stavanger!!!! :-)

In the end we walked around seeing all the presentation.

international week

Today we had workshops. We have been making a traditional danish lunsjboks "smørbrød". We all made one each and of course we ate it at lunsjtime:) The lunsj consisted of: wholegrainebread, butter, makrel in tomatosause, sausages, ham, chees, cuecombers, tomatoes, fried onions, tartarsause(popular called remulade), and of course the danish chocolate topping who looks like a visacard made of chocolate(tastes really good, but only when you eat it beside the bread like regular choclate:)(by the way, you don`t put all the toppings on one slice of bread, but I think you understand....:)
It was fun to see all the different countries making their own sandwiches and using their own combinations. For eksampel this one person put chhoklate on the top of the eggs(I don`t know if she maby thought this was tipical danish or she actually just likes it).
then we wrote our own countries tipical lunsj at the blackboard. In norway we it slices of bread whit toppings like ham, chees, makrell i tomat, cuecombers, tomatoes and so on, which we like to call "Ola Normann" because it`s so tipical norwegian....it might sound like the danish, but it aint like that!
In many other countries they eat hot lunsjes, maby we have something to learn:)

I also joined another workshopgroup where we should make a smal film. The film should be about things we think is weard about the danes. We made a littele film about why the danes cycle a lot. It was really fun making the film. I learned a lot, and now maby I can be a filmproduser instead of a kindergardenteatcher;) tihi
We found out that the danes cycle because:
- it`s convenient
- it`s easy
- it`s cheeper than car
- you don`t need a parkinglot
- it`s an old tradition
and
- you have to be 18 to have you`re licens.

The eavening we spent together with all the international students. We all broth some food which is tipical in our own country. there were a lot of good food!!I tasted(among lot of other food) Belgian chocolate, spanish omelet++, danish red hot dogs, some tyrkish food which I don`t remember the name of, fries which the belgian of course brought, check potatoesalat, and some portugise pasta "thing" which by the way tasted really good...and so on:)
And last but not least the norwegian food: "skoleboller" it`s kind of a sweet east dough, topped with vanilla cream, thin sugar"melis" and coconut.

what is national week all about??

Before I go to bed here in badstuegade I maby can tell you what the international week is all about.

The world we live in are being more internationolaiesed every day and it`s important to learn of other cultures to gain knowledge and respect of each other. In this week we are focused in learning through all our senses, aestetic learning prosesses, using music, film, cooking and dance etc. Through this we are supposed to learn new things about each other and our future teacher profession.

international week

Today it`s monday and the first day of the international week here at UCSyd. It consists of us:) the erasmus student, and even more international students who is only here for this week. Today we have been working with stereotypes, learned some danish and and learned danish folkedans. When we worked with stereotypes we first had to sit together in groups of our own country and draw drawings of how we see our selves. That was really funny, showing of our kindergardenteacher drawing skills..hehe....after this we made other groups who were mixed. each group got one country to draw stereotypes. then ehen we were finishes all the groups had to present their drawing, then compare it to the country who draw them selves. It was fun to see what people think of eatch other and how similar our oppiniuns are. We talked a bit where the stereotypes come from.... maby from tv, souvenires, the travelagency and so on..

Then we had danish lesson. I feel lucky that I understand the danes and can communicate without having to learn the language from the start, because I really think they have a difficult prononsiation!! but maby it`s harder to learn because I can understand? I don`t know....:)

Then we learned about the danish schoolsystem. All the things we had today we have talked about in the erasmuscourse, but we heared some new stuff and had a great time, and it`s not so bad to have things repeated once in a while ;)

At the end of the day we danced danish folkdances. I really danced my shoes off.....:P hehe...
